Nehal Kothari, B.A.S.L.P., M.A. (USA), is a licensed Speech Therapist and Audiologist. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the California Speech Language Hearing Association.
Ms. Kothari has earned her Bachelor's in Audiology & Speech Language Pathology from T.N. Medical College (Nair Hospital). During this program she achieved a commendable feat as she ranked first for all three consecutive years and was awarded gold medals by University of Health Sciences, Maharashtra. She has received her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from The Ohio State University (USA).
To add to her 10 years of experience, she has been a LEND trainee at the OSU Nisonger Center, College of Medicine & Public Health. Here, she completed the appointment as a Predoctoral Fellow in Maternal & Child Health Interdisciplinary Leadership Training Program (LEND).
She is also P.R.O.M.P.T trained; a very useful approach for children with Developmental and neurogenic Apraxia of Speech. She is also trained in other specialized oro-motor programs and therapeutic techniques such as Makaton Sign Language system. She has also gained competence in Dysphagia Evaluation (MBS, FEES) and Dysphagia therapy. She has also been certified in application of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) at Boston, USA for Dysphagia therapy. She has also honed her clinical skills in management of Voice disorders by interning at acclaimed Voice and Speech Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard), Dodd Acute Rehabilitation Center & Dept of Otolaryngology at OSU Medical Center, USA.
Ms. Kothari has been practicing Speech Pathology for over 10 years with experience in both pediatric and geriatric populations. She has gained a well-rounded experience by working in various clinical settings in the USA and in India, including the Autism and Family Directed Clinics at Ohio State University Nisonger Center and the LEAP Preschool Speech-Language Clinic in Columbus, Ohio.
Ms. Kothari has also practiced in skilled nursing facilities, such as the Valley House Care Center, Santa Clara, California; rehab centers; and special needs schools, such as the Cupertino Special Needs School, Sunnyvale, California. Further, she has helped a number of children in preschools and elementary and middle schools to improve their speech and language skills and thus enabled them to communicate effectively with others.
Over the years, Ms. Kothari has earned a reputation for her keen diagnostic skills and her ability to develop therapy programs that have led to a high treatment success rate.
